Tennis Strategy - The cross-court rally

Do you know that hitting the ball cross-court is a high percentage shot?

The reasons
1) The net at the center is lower than the side.
2) The diagonal distance between cross court is longer than down the line.
3) For recovery position at the baseline, a cross-court return at the baseline (rather than down the line) will allow for a shorter recovery.

This is the match that I will remembered for a long time. Frenchmen Gilles Simon and Gael Monfils push each other to the limit, slugging it out over 71 strokes in one amazing rally.

If you have watched the match till the end, Gael Monfils seemed to be in control of the game but with Gilles Simon never say die attitude and chasing for every ball despite having some cramps in his hand,  overcame the challenge and win the match.
